Protesters Defend Carrying Mexican Flags

Let's be clear. There's a difference when Italian-Americans are waving a flag of Italy when they're celebrating a holiday and when illegal immigrants are waving the flag of Mexico.

Firstly, it's just colossally stupid that illegals would wave the flag of a country from which they are escaping. They're essentially sucking on America's teat and they're saying that they're proud to be Mexican? If I were them (which I'm not, since I'm smart), I'd be waving an American flag and only an American flag. I'd tell whomever asked that I love America and I want to become a citizen. I'd be trying to speak English. The fact of the matter is, if they want respect, then they have to at least give half an effort to integrate.

Secondly, I would posit that there is a significantly higher percentage of Italians in this country legally than Hispanic, whether they be citizens or have visas, etc. They've gone through the system and earned the right to live in this country. I'd trust the loyalty of an Italian or Irish-American to America than an illegal immigrant any day. That the illegals are shoving their true nationality in our faces is insulting.

Coach disciplined for distributing immigration protest flier at school

Rudy Rios, a teacher at Chavez High School in Houston, was removed as the JV baseball coach for using school property to make fliers that "encourag[ed] Latino students to attend a rally protesting restrictions on illegal immigration."

However, Rios was still allowed to continue to teach ESL classes. His flier said that
"We gots 2 stay together and protest against the new law that wants 2 be passed against all immigrants. We gots 2 show the U.S. that they aint (expletive) with out us (sic)," according to district officials.

Judging by the flier's content, don't you think he should have been removed as the ESL teacher, too?

Settle down

Proof that even Hasidic Jews can act like a bunch of crazy monkeys. The Hasidic youth deserved what was coming to them. As for what the Chief of Department Joseph Esposito allegedly said, weren't the rioters Jewish? Granted, I would have been more likely to use the word "people", but if I were confronted with a group of people that were all white, Asian, black, or Jewish or needed to distinguish among the group, it's not wrong to call them what they are.

Mass. Bill Requires Health Coverage

Interesting. Comparing health insurance to car insurance. Massachusetts's foray into free market-based health insurance could be revolutionary.

Grand Jury to Hear McKinney Run-In Case

Cynthia McKinney is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the civil rights movement today.

Money quote from none other than Tom DeLay:
"Cynthia McKinney is a racist," Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, said on Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends," a day after abandoning his reelection bid under a cloud of ethics charges. "She has a long history of racism. Everything is racism with her. This is incredible arrogance that sometimes hits these members of Congress, but especially Cynthia McKinney."

Priceless.

The Federal Bureau of Luddites By Noah Shachtman

Amazing. How can the FBI have 8,000 out of 30,000 employees lacking e-mail addresses?

To paraphrase Hansel, "The files are in the computer?"

Boy turns in knife but may still be expelled

Message to our kids: honesty doesn't pay.

It's understandable that our kids are so stupid when we just take a look at who's running our public school system.
