Autocracy in action

Jeb Bush has become public enemy number one in for his autocratic attempt to take control of Terri Schiavo, if the Miami Herald is to be trusted. It goes to show how far the religious right is willing to go to gain power over the personal affairs of private citizens.

We must fight against these theocrats and vote them out of office.

Biting the hand that feeds you

Talk about ungrateful. Here's a governor that signed a law (ultimately overturned by the Florida courts) that effectively put Terri Schiavo's life in his hands, thereby saving it for the time being, and the parents of Terri blame him for doing nothing! The Schindlers are behaving in an increasingly detestable manner, even claiming that their daughter crying, and they're completely losing both the PR battle and the battle for Terri Schiavo.

When this is all over and Terri Schiavo passes, the public will come to realize the depravity of the Schindlers.

Say it enough

And you'll begin to believe it. Bob Schindler has, in all likelyhood, lied so much about the condition of his daughter, that I'm sure that he now truly believes his own dissembling. It would be patently obvious to any observer if a person were able to respond to him. The fact that no one besides Terri's immediate family has claimed that she has responded in any way to outside stimuli belies the family claim of Terri's consciousness.

Note to the Schindlers: Though it's understandable that you'd want to preserve your daughter's life, it doesn't help your case at all to disseminate bald-faced lies.

Also classic: Tammy Melton, 37, of Tennessee, using the word "tyrant" to describe the judges that were directed by Congress and the President to reconsider the case. It was bad when the Dems cried about losing the 2000 election. This is worse. Grow up, you whiny babies.

Standing up to terror

Now, it seems ordinary Iraqi are standing up to terrorisn. They know the stakes involved: defeat terrorism or fall into chaos.

Which, of course, is a lot more than what the peaceniks in Europe and here know. They only know weakness and surrender.
