Court Rules Kan. Can't Single Out Gay Sex

Good news and a blow against discrimination against gays when the Kansas Supreme Court struck down a state law that targeted underage homosexual sex.

Whereas underage hetero sex punishment was minimized under so-called "Romeo and Juliet" laws, homosexual sex was not, so Matt R. Limon, 18, was sentenced for 17 years for having sex with a 14-year old boy.

Hey, the Bible-thumpers have to lose once in a while.

Kofi Annan, protector of tyrants

Somehow, I'm not surprised by talk that Kofi Annan watered down the Mehlis report investigating the assassination of Lebanese PM Rafik Hariri, removing Syrian President Assad's brother and brother-in-law from the list of suspects.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Annan "was concerned that the harsh report could cause political instability in Syria, perhaps even leading to an overthrow of the Assad regime."

Go figure. The UN: what an organization!

Monk, teenagers killed in Thai Muslim south

Islamists aren't just against the West and their so-called imperialist ways, but against all followers of other religions. I mean, why in the world would they slit the throat of a Buddhist monk?

Wake up.

Well, you know, Saddam wasn't such a bad guy

If all you knew about Saddam was what was in the today's New York Times about his trial, you would think that Saddam Hussein wasn't such a bad guy.

You know, because he was justified in wiping out hundreds of thousands of his own people. Just ask the Sunnis.

Disgusting.

Stephen Jackson is a fool

Pacers guard Stephen Jackson is proof positive that he'd be a bum on the street if it weren't for his talent at basketball when he claimed that the NBA's new guidelines on appropriate dress were racially motivated.

No, Stephen, it's just anti-thug motivated.

Joan Rivers don't take no crap from nobody

Good on Joan for calling out British social commentator Darcus Howe for calling Rivers racist.

First Howe insults America by calling it racist when really, among the developed nations, it's one of the most progressive. Then he says that "black offends Joan" when all she said was that people should inter-marry in order to wipe out racial discrimination.

This guy is really over the top, and I'm glad that Rivers called Howe what he is: a "son of a bitch."

ABC 'Loose Nukes' special is bunk

It's looking more and more that the ABC special detailing the supposedly lax security measures at college nuclear reactors is bunk and based on shoddy science and plays upon the irrational fear of nuclear energy.

Seriously, my own knowledge of nuclear energy involves an 8th grade report on energy sources and my own training as a chemical engineer. Right off the bat, I knew that there was something fishy about the article.

What's sad is that the graduate students in the special are

1) completely ignorant on the topic of nuclear energy or,
2) complicit in the deception, or
3) both.

The OU Bomber

Michelle Malkin has a fascinating read of the OU suicide bombing of Joel Hinrichs, a student there. It contains an excellent summary of the controversy surrounding Hinrichs and the possibility that his suicide was an attempt at terrorism.

Read it all.

CNN.com - Police knew gangs would target Nazi march

It's interesting that the AP would not inform readers of the racial consistency of the gangs that rioted, attacked police, and destroyed property in response to a march by a white supremacist group who were protesting the supposed gang violence in a Toledo, Ohio neighborhood. This forced police to impose a curfew after the rioters injured 12 police officers, burned down a bar, and vandalized vehicles and stores.

As disgusting as those supremacists are, the actions of the gangs only validated the supremacist cause. I can't believe how impossibly stupid the gangs were in walking right into a trap. Pathetic.

Two in a row

That's two wins in a row for the Cowboys, as they defeat the Giants 16-13 in a mistake-filled game.

Even though the Cowboys dominated the game statistically, they could only manage a 3 point victory in overtime. It's frustrating, but also a relief, as the Cowboys have had trouble with letdowns after wins the week before.
