Real life Pattern Recognition?

I've noticed recently on YouTube videos by LonelyGirl15 that have taken on a cult following. Today, I read an article in the LA Times regarding that phenomenon.

This entire storyline reminds me of William Gibson's wonderful Pattern Recognition, in which the protagonist, Cayce Pollard, is part of a subculture obsessed with what's called 'The Footage', a series of short clips that are sent out into the Internet over time by a mysterious artist that the subculture is desperately trying to discover.

I wonder if the writer of this footage read the same novel.

Gibson is a visionary.

It has no bounds, and only increases as the Kennedy School invites Mahmoud Khatami, former 'moderate' leader of Iran, to speak on the eve of 9/11.

Disgusting. I applaud Mitt Romney for his tough stance and moral clarity to call out Khatami for the fraud he is.
