Kofi Annan, protector of tyrants

Somehow, I'm not surprised by talk that Kofi Annan watered down the Mehlis report investigating the assassination of Lebanese PM Rafik Hariri, removing Syrian President Assad's brother and brother-in-law from the list of suspects.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Annan "was concerned that the harsh report could cause political instability in Syria, perhaps even leading to an overthrow of the Assad regime."

Go figure. The UN: what an organization!
