Obama Overstates Kansas Tornado Deaths

'Overstates' is putting it mildly. But, hey, if we're attacking Bush, what's the difference between 12 deaths due to the Kansas tornadoes and 10,000?

And, of course, he trotted out the canard that "the National Guard in Kansas only had 40 percent of its equipment and they are having to slow down the recovery process in Kansas."

Turns out that there's some dispute about that, too. The interesting quote:
Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the state's adjutant general, said the Kansas National Guard was equipped to about 40 percent of its necessary levels, down from the 60 percent it had at the start of the war. About 850 soldiers have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

"It just leaves you pretty tight," he said. "We're fine for now."
So the Iraq war has only reduced the state's equipment readiness by 1/3.
