Mr. Souter, meet Mr. Bush

George Bush has signed an Executive Order precluding the Federal Government from acquiring through eminent domain any private property if its use is for "advancing the economic interest of private parties to be given ownership or use of the property taken."

Granted, this is only at the federal level, and many states have yet to ban such forms of eminent domain, but it's an important stand to take against the horrible decision that was Kelo v. City of New London.

Well, I guess it takes lawyers to make something that looks good on the face of it into something that looks bad.

I guess we can't say it's the thought that counts.
